Gordo BJJ Seminar

On Tuesday, December 2, Marin MMA hosted Roberto “Gordo” Correa for a BJJ Seminar on one of the positions he pioneered in Jiu-Jitsu, the “half-guard”.  Gordo is not only a multiple time IBJJF World and Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Competition Champion, he is also an excellent instructor and one of the nicest guys around.  He welcomed several of Marin MMA’s top students, including our very own Professor Mikyo Riggs, Black Belt Brigette Barnato, and many others into his gym on their travels in Brazil.  All have come back praising Gordo’s approachable teaching style and welcoming presence and yesterday our students were able to experience his instruction first hand!

The Gordo BJJ Seminar not only helped beginners learn half-guard fundamentals; it also gave advanced students crucial details to improve their understanding and execution of the techniques.  One of Gracie Barra’s top instructors, Gordo is one of the few Jiu-Jitsu practitioners who not only possesses an excellent competition record, but strong teaching ability as well.  His ability to pass on knowledge comes as no surprise though; Professor Correa received his black belt in 1993 from another legend, Carlos Gracie Junior.  We could not have asked for a better seminar from a true Jiu-Jitsu legend!
